It’s Friiiiiiiday!

It’s time to unwind and get into something exciting for the night. Or, at least make some plans for the upcoming weekend, yeah? Friday doesn’t always have to be that big night on the town, staying home and enjoying it by yourself or someone special can be 10X better than dealing with people!

Stumped about what to do with your Fri?

Check it – we’ve got a dozen fun things to do on a Friday night when you’re staying in.

So hey, if you like some of the recommendations we have linked on here and you decide to buy them, we get a tiny bit of the sale (at no extra cost to you) <3 <3 <3.

Knock Out Your Netflix Backlog

Now’s the time to binge the hell out of your favorite shows.

You’ve got a backlog – don’t cha?

going through the movie & show backlog on a Friday night

Get some popcorn in the microwave or a frozen pizza in the oven. You’ve got at least 4 or 5 solid hours to burn through a show (or two).

You could pull an all-nighter, too, if the show is that good.

Try something like this:

  • Trade off each Friday about who gets to pick what show
  • Use something like JustWatch.com to find wherever it’s streaming
  • Do a group watch with friends using something like Netflix Party

Change it up and do the “3-episode rule” where you give a show at least 3 episodes before sticking with it or dropping it. If you’re a move-type, dig into those recommendations you’ve been saving!

You know what totally made our Friday night binge-a-thons great? This:

We hook some basic computer speakers and we’re good to go! Movie experience without having to deal with people kicking the back of your seat.

Paint Along (Bob Ross Style)

Doing a paint-a-long is a really fun way to pass the time and make something great for your place.

Obviously, you can do a paint along with the legendary Bob Ross:

Or, you can check out some of the channels that make these fun experiences – like:

Getting started with this is really cheap, actually. You can spend a bit more but why not go a little cheap at first to see if it’s something you can get into, right? Maybe later on you can upgrade those paint supplies – for the meantime – check out:

Not into paints? Markers, color pencils, or crayons would do the trick too!

Have Yourself a Fun Spa Night

Draw up a bath.

Plop one of the dozens of bath bombs you’ve been gifted over the years in there.

Throw on some good music.

Relax.

bubble bath

A spa night at home is the ultimate way to finish out the work week. You’ll feel at ease but also get plenty of rest before the coming mayhem that’s Saturday. Even better is if you can do this with someone special, treating it like some fancy-shmancy outing but for a fraction of the price – woo!

Do Some Super Basic Fixes

A few simple things you can do to drastically reduce some apartment annoyances:

  • Replace that smoke detector battery so it’s not chirping
  • Scrub the toilet bowl (and around it) so it’s not so grimy
  • Clean out the lint trap in your dryer (if you’ve got one)
  • Use a stain remover to get rid of those questionable stains
  • Spackle and fill those pin/nail holes around the place

You might not own the place – or maybe you do? – but hey, you can still be handy. Fix up those annoyances before they’re troublesome or drive you up the walls.

Do a Cooking “Roulette”

A couple, making a meal at home

I don’t know about you – but I get into these habits where I cook a lot of the same stuff. It’ll be pasta or chicken or rice & beans and so on. The problem is that you get bored with the food which tends to mean you ordering food out (gets expensive!).

Cooking something new is easily one of the funnest things to do on a Friday night.

But:

I can make it one better… doing a cooking “roulette”:

  • Go to one of your favorite cooking sites
  • Open one of the main pages listing tons of recipes
  • Pick a random number and go with whatever recipe shows on the list

There’s also neat-o sites like this dinner picker wheel thing. Or you could get crafty and make something like a date night jar to help pick something fun.

Call Someone You Haven’t Talked with In a While

Now – more than ever – is a good time to reach out to friends and family.

Call grandma.

Call an old friend.

Call someone special.

Get a group chat going with your family. Or, do a video call with some friend-o’s.

Reconnect with people and catch up with those you haven’t touched base in a while. They’ll appreciate the contact.

Doing a video chat on a Friday night

It doesn’t have to be some 3-hour long conversation either.

What do you catch up on? Well:

  • Work
  • Relationships
  • Happenings
  • Gossip

I don’t know… you’re their friend or family member lol.

The point is that you spend most of the week talking to coworkers and people online. Use that energy to keep those relationships strong with the people that really matter.

See? There’s Lots of Fun Things to Do on a Friday Night!

All you need to do is get a little creative with your free time at the week’s end.

It goes to show you don’t always need to go out and party up. Staying home and getting into some of these fun things to do on a Friday night is totally great (especially as you get older, no lie).

So…
